Malakand
Botanical name – Alocasia indica
It is a tall (up to 2.7 m) aroid with succulent (10-20 cm) underground root stock; leaves alternate, petiolate.
Uses –
- This plant has been mentioned in Charaka Samhita as useful to treat digestive disorders.
- It is used in Ayurveda to treat digestive disorders, diuretic, piles.
- Extract of petiole removes pus from ears
- Ash of rhizome: used in treating buccal ulcer
